Robert G. Gilbert

男,1946年1月21日生,现任澳大利亚昆士兰大学营养与食品科学中心教授/扬州大学特聘教授,澳大利亚科学院院士。早年从事聚合物化学和胶体化学研究,2006年加入澳大利亚昆士兰大学营养与食品科学中心,从事淀粉和多糖化学研究;2012年入选我国首批“外专千人计划”(长期项目)、任华中科技大学特聘教授。Robert G. Gilbert教授已发表420多篇学术论文,他引次数高达12500次,H-index高达57,是澳大利亚论文被引用次数最多的科学家之一。Robert G. Gilbert教授曾担任国际纯粹与应用化学联合会(IUPAC)的高分子化学专业委员会主席,近期主要从事谷物淀粉结构与功能特性研究,目前担任Biomacromolecule, Journal of Polymer Science、Carbohydrate Polymers等国际著名杂志的编委。由于其在教学和科学研究上的突出贡献,澳大利亚政府颁发给他多项荣誉和奖励。近年来,Robert G. Gilbert教授在谷物淀粉的结构、功能、生物合成及利用等方面开展了一系列研究,具有丰富的淀粉结构与功能研究经验和理论基础。

Professor Robert G (Bob) Gilbert is Research Professor at the Centre for Nutrition and Food Science, University of Queensland, and also at both YangZhou University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, under the Chinese Government 1000-Talents Foreign Experts program.He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, is author of about 450 papers, 6 patents, and 2 books (on unimolecular reactions and on emulsion polymerization). With 16,000 citations and an h-index of 60, he is one of Australia’s most cited chemists. His membership of editorial boards includes Carbohydrate Polymers (as an Associate Editor),Biomacromolecules,Journal of Polymer Science and Polymer, and was Chair of the Gordon Research Conference on Polymer Colloids. Over the last 10 years, he has extended this knowledge of synthetic polymers to the understanding and characterizing of branched natural polymers, particularly starch and glycogen.
His research mainly focuses on two aspects: 1. The relations of starch biosynthetic gene, starch fine structure and functional properties; 2. Research about the relation of starchy food and human diabetes.
